About Elmwood Publishing
The founders of Elmwood Publishing, the creators and publishers of Model Engine Builder magazine, are no strangers to Model Engineering world. Mike Rehmus was one of the founding members of BAEM Bay Area Engine Modelers club in Northern California and served as the clubs first Newsletter Editor for 4 years. In 1997, Mike founded ByVideo, a video production company, to document the models presented at NAMES, PRIME, and other Model Engine Exhibitions throughout the US. As ByVideo grew, Mike became involved in creating educational, civic, and commercial videos as well as documenting Model Engine exhibitions.
Previously Mike had a marketing and sales career in Silicon Valley in printers, desktop scanners, digital cameras, and the Internet. His BS degree and seven years in the Navy in submarines, electronics, and nuclear power has given him a reasonable understanding of engine technology.
Toni Rehmus has also been part of the Model Engine world, and in the past could be seen selling videos in the ByVideo booth at Exhibitions. She brings a background in Business Administration, Marketing, and Program Management to the magazine production team. With a Degree in English and a MBA she runs the business end of the magazine and insures that Mike doesn’t skate around too many rules of the English language.
Seeing the need for a magazine devoted to Model Engineers building model engines, Mike and Toni teamed up to found Elmwood Publishing in 2005 and create Model Engine Builder magazine which is now in its fourteenth year of publication.
